This October, your tea gives back
For the second year in a row, we're dedicating October to breast cancer research. From October 1–31, 10% of the purchase price of every tea, sampler, and gift box we sell will be donated to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in support of breast cancer research.
Why this matters to me
In 2023, I left my job in scholarly publishing to pursue my dream of one day opening a tea shop. I was all set to start a culinary management program at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York, I was working on my business plan, and I was excited to start down this new path.
Then I found a lump.
A week before my program started, I was diagnosed with triple-positive breast cancer. I was in shock, scared, and unsure of the future. I called Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center right away to make an appointment, and I'm so glad I did. Through chemotherapy, surgery, and everything else, the care I received was remarkable, and I'm grateful for everything they continue to do for me.
I kept up with my classes throughout treatment and reshaped my original plan into what is now Hoboken Tea Company: an online shop and market booth, and a first step toward the tea shop I still hope to open one day.

I'm also a scientist, with a background in genetics, so I know how much work goes into every step forward. Every day, researchers and clinicians make discoveries that lead to better treatments for all forms of cancer, including breast cancer. But all of it takes funding.
Donations to institutions like Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center are more important than ever. Even small advances make a real difference in the lives of cancer patients and survivors. That's why, every October, I want Hoboken Tea to be part of it.
How it works
It's simple: shop the way you normally would. Every tea, sampler set, and gift box counts, whether you order online or buy from us in person at a market.
