FAQs
Products
Where does your tea come from?
We are a small tea company, so we do not source tea or botanicals directly from the growers themselves. Instead, we partner with trusted importers who focus on specialty tea and have strong relationships with the growers.
All of our Premium teas are produced in China by expert tea makers using traditional methods. Our tea blends and botanicals come from various regions. In every case, we ensure that the products we sell are responsibly sourced from farms that meet fair trade principles.
Why aren’t all your products certified organic?
All of our non-tea botanicals are certified organic, but only some of our teas are. It takes time for growers to become certified organic, even if they adhere to organic standards and for small tea estates, the fees associated with certification can themselves be cost prohibitive. In addition, different regions are pivoting to organic farming at different rates. As the industry continues to move toward organic farming we expect that our offerings will eventually be all certified organic. In the meantime, our focus is on sourcing the highest quality tea possible from trusted importers who share our values.
Why don’t you carry my favorite tea?
Hoboken Tea Company is just getting started and we plan to roll out many more varieties of teas and new tea blends soon. If there is a particular tea you would like to see in our store, drop us a line at info@hobokentea.com.
Where are your blends made and packaged?
All of our products are prepared and packaged in a commercial kitchen in New Jersey, ensuring that all health codes and requirements are followed during production.
Are your tea pouches recyclable?
Pouches cannot be recycled because of the film needed to ensure freshness and food safety for our products. However, all of our tea pouches are certified compostable and are safe for home composting. They are made from vegan, non-GMO materials and are free of PLA, BPA and other harmful chemicals.
Unfortunately, the labels on our pouches are not compostable at this time due to the nature of the adhesive used. Please remove all labels before composting your tea pouches.
