Where does your tea come from?

We are a small tea company, so we do not source tea or botanicals directly from the growers themselves. Instead, we partner with trusted importers who focus on specialty tea and have strong relationships with the growers.

All of our Premium teas are sourced from top tea-growing regions and produced by expert tea makers using traditional methods. Our tea blends and botanicals come from a variety of regions. Where possible, we opt for botanicals grown in the United States. In every case, we ensure that the products we sell are responsibly sourced from farms that adhere to fair trade principles.

Why aren’t all your products certified organic?

All of our non-tea botanicals are certified organic, but only some of our teas are. It takes time for growers to become certified organic, even if they adhere to organic standards and for small tea estates, the fees associated with certification can themselves be cost prohibitive. In addition, different regions are pivoting to organic farming at different rates. As the industry continues to move toward organic farming we expect that our offerings will eventually be all certified organic. In the meantime, our focus is on sourcing the highest quality tea possible from trusted importers who share our values.

Why don’t you carry my favorite tea?

Hoboken Tea Company is just getting started and we plan to roll out many more varieties of teas and new tea blends soon. If there is a particular tea you would like to see in our store, drop us a line at info@hobokentea.com. We’d love to hear from you!

Where are your blends made and packaged?

All of our products are prepared and packaged in a commercial kitchen in New Jersey, ensuring that all health codes and requirements are followed during production. Our raw ingredients (tea and dried herbs/botanicals) are purchased in their final, processed state; we do not carry out any dehydration ourselves.

Are your tea pouches recyclable?

Pouches cannot be recycled because of the film needed to ensure freshness and food safety for our products. However, all of our tea pouches are certified compostable and are safe for home composting. They are made from vegan, non-GMO materials and are free of PLA, BPA and other harmful chemicals.

Unfortunately, the labels on our pouches are not compostable at this time due to the nature of the adhesive used. Please remove all labels before composting your tea pouches.

Shipping & Delivery

How do you calculate shipping costs?

We charge a flat-rate shipping fee of $8 based on the average cost of shipping with UPS. However, shipping fees are waived for all orders over $75. Please note that we only ship within the continental United States.

We reserve the right to deny free shipping for unusually large orders when shipping costs exceed the purchase price. In the event that this happens, we will offer you the option to pay the shipping charges or receive a refund for your order.

Who is eligible for free local delivery?

We offer free delivery in Hoboken, Jersey City, Union City, Weehawken, West New York, and Bayonne. If you are outside of this delivery area but still within a 1-hour drive of Hoboken, you can contact Brooke at brooke@hobokentea.com to see if we are able to offer free local delivery in your case. Please reach out to request this option before placing your order online.

Delivery is available Monday through Saturday, 9am to 6pm. We will contact you about your preferred delivery time.

Can I pick up my order?

At this time, we do not have a physical storefront, so we cannot offer local pick up for most orders. If we have an upcoming market event, you can request to pick up your order at the Hoboken Tea Company booth.

However, if you need to make other accommodations, just reach out to Brooke at brooke@hobokentea.com and she will be happy to help.
