How to use loose leaf tea

  • Place tea leaves in a teapot, infuser basket, or empty tea bag

  • Pour hot water over the tea (rather than dunking tea leaves into the water)

  • Strain or remove leaves before enjoying

Brewing Guidelines

Heat 8 oz of filtered water to a boil. Pour water over 2g (about 1.5 tsp) tea leaves in a teapot or a strainer set in a cup. Steep for 4 – 6 minutes, or longer if you prefer a stronger flavor.

Always use filtered or spring water to fully enjoy the taste of your tea. For best results, brew using a teapot with a removable filter that allows the leaves to unfurl completely. Avoid tea balls/eggs or other infusers that compress the tea leaves.

Storing Tea

Keep sealed in a cool, dry place away from strong odors, moisture, and light. We do not recommend storing tea in clear containers (such as glass jars) as light can affect the shelf life of tea.

Herbal tea should be consumed within 1 - 2 years of purchase for optimal flavor.

About this Tea

The bright red fruit and citrus flavors of hibiscus and orange are matched with classic holiday spice and a touch of natural sweetness, making our holiday blend a great non-alcoholic alternative to mulled wine. Our 2026 Hoboken Holiday has a less pronounced orange citrus character and a sweeter cinnamon flavor, thanks to the freshly ground Saigon cinnamon from local spice grinder Rose & Ruth’s. The Saigon cinnamon is produced in Yen Bai Province in the northern mountains of Vietnam.

Although our blend this year is not entirely made of certified organic ingredients, all of the ingredients were grown without pesticides using natural methods. In addition to the Saigon cinnamon, this blend also includes two other ingredients sourced from Rose & Ruth’s: the black peppercorns, grown in the Quang Tri province on the north central coast of Vietnam; and the cloves, which come from the Maluku Islands in Indonesia, the original island chain where cloves were first cultivated.
