Holiday Market Assistant — Hoboken Tea (Seasonal, Part-Time)

Hoboken Tea is looking for one or two friendly, reliable people to help run our booth at holiday markets this season. If you love tea, enjoy talking to people, and want flexible weekend and evening work through the holidays, we'd love to meet you.

What you'll do

  • Help load/unload equipment and merchandise into a vehicle for transport to events

  • Help set up and break down our market booth (tables, displays, signage, inventory)

  • Greet customers, answer questions about our teas, and make recommendations

  • Handle sales and process payments (we'll train you on our system)

  • Restock product and keep the booth looking great throughout the event

  • Represent Hoboken Tea with warmth and energy

Optional extra hours

Beyond the market events, there may be optional opportunities to pick up additional paid hours if you're interested — things like helping in the kitchen to prepare and package our tea blends, getting customer orders ready to ship, and other tasks that come up during our busy season. These are entirely optional and a great way to earn more hours, but the core role is booth support at the markets.

What we're looking for

  • Genuinely friendly and comfortable talking to customers

  • Reliable and punctual — we're counting on you to show up for booked events

  • Able to stand for several hours and lift/carry up to ~30 lbs (boxes, folding tables)

  • Available for the specific dates listed below, including weekends and some weekday events

  • Retail, food service, or market experience is a plus but not required — we'll train you

Schedule

This is a seasonal role running late September through December. You do not need to be available for every date — let us know which you can work, and we'll build a schedule. There may be other event dates added during the season.

We especially need people who can commit to a good chunk of these:

  • Sat–Sun, Sept 26–27

  • Sat–Sun, Oct 24–25

  • Tue, Nov 10

  • Sat, Nov 14

  • Tue, Nov 17

  • Tue, Nov 24

  • Wed, Dec 2

  • Sat–Sun, Dec 5–6

  • Sat–Sun, Dec 12–13

  • Wed, Dec 16

  • Sat, Dec 19

Paid training: Your first shifts will be at the Hoboken Farmers' Market on Tuesday, Sept 15 and/or Sept 22, so you can learn the ropes before the holiday events begin. These shifts will run from 12:00pm–7:30pm.

Shift hours: For all weekend dates and Wednesdays, shifts generally run 8am–6pm or 8am–7pm, inclusive of travel time to and from the market event. Tuesday events (Nov 10, 17, and 24) run 12:00pm–7:30pm, the same as the training shifts. This is a full-day commitment that includes travel and booth setup before the event, and takedown afterward — all of it is paid time. Every shift includes a 30-minute paid lunch break.

Locations: Our market events take place in Hoboken, Montclair, and Holmdel, NJ. You do not need your own transportation, but having your own vehicle is a plus.

Pay, Bonus & Perks

  • $17/hour. This is a W-2 position (taxes withheld).

  • 25% employee discount on Hoboken Tea Company products

  • End of season bonus of up to $300 for punctual and reliable performance. Bonus will be paid in the last paycheck before Christmas.

How to apply

Email brooke@hobokentea.com with a short note about yourself, your availability, and any prior relevant experience. You can also stop by our booth at the Hoboken Farmers' Market at Church Square Park on Tuesdays. See our event calendar for exact market dates.

Kitchen & Production Assistant — Hoboken Tea (Seasonal, Part-Time)

Hoboken Tea is looking for a detail-oriented, reliable person to help with tea blending, packaging, and order prep at our Hoboken kitchen this season. If you enjoy hands-on production work, take pride in doing things neatly and consistently, and want flexible part-time hours, we'd love to meet you.

What you'll do

  • Prepare and package our tea blends

  • Label and fill pouches for production

  • Get customer orders ready for shipping

  • Keep the kitchen and workspace clean, organized, and up to food-safety standards

  • Help with other production tasks as they come up during our busy season

What we're looking for

  • Detail-oriented and consistent — our pouches and labels need to look right every time

  • Reliable and punctual for your scheduled shifts

  • Comfortable with focused, hands-on, sometimes repetitive production work

  • Able to stand for several hours and lift/carry up to ~30 lbs, including up and down stairs

  • Comfortable following food-safety and cleanliness practices (we'll train you on ours)

  • Comfortable working in a shared commercial kitchen alongside other food businesses — respectful of shared equipment, common areas, and cleanup expectations

  • ServSafe certification is a plus, but not required

Schedule

This is a seasonal, part-time role of roughly 8–12 hours per week. Work is mostly Wednesdays and Thursdays, with occasional other weekdays, and it's not every single week — some weeks are lighter than others. Pouch labeling may happen on a separate day or early in the morning before a kitchen day, so some flexibility on timing is a plus. You do not need to be available for every shift — let us know your general weekday availability, and we'll build a schedule around a good portion of it.

Locations

Kitchen

Our kitchen is at 720 Monroe Street (Monroe Center), Hoboken, NJ — an easy, fixed location with no travel required. It's a shared commercial kitchen that we rent time in alongside other small food businesses, so you'll be working in a professional, collaborative space — sharing equipment and common areas and following the facility's guidelines and other tenants' schedules.

Office

Our office space is at 132 Washington Street, suite 303, Hoboken, NJ. Pouch labeling and other pre-kitchen prep work will take place here. Note that this office is on the third floor in a walk-up building.

Optional extra hours

If you're interested, there may also be optional opportunities to help out at our holiday market events (weekends and some weekdays, in Hoboken, Montclair, and Holmdel). Entirely optional — the core role here is kitchen and production work.
